Many patients have medical conditions, but this does not necessarily exclude them from the convenience of an office based surgery or sedation dentistry. A careful assessment, and some preparation, can make an outpatient procedure safe, convenient and cost effective. In some circumstances, avoidance of the exposure other potentially sick patients (as you might find at a hospital) can make the office an ideal setting, and certainly preferably to the protracted hospital stay.
Vigilance and awareness are keys to maintaining a safe anesthetic. Goals not only include the safety and well-being of the patient, but also avoidance of common problems such as post-operative pain and nausea and vomiting are paramount. At Lakeshore Anesthesia, we attempt to use some of the newest medications to ensure adequate anesthesia, a quick recovery, adequate pain control and no post-anesthesia complications.
We will do several things to ensure that you are comfortable immediately and for several days after your procedure. Our goal is your comfort.
Sometimes there are obstacles to coming into a medical office (and this is especially true with the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic), but help is still available. Much of the pre-operative care can be handled without the need to be seen in person. Nonetheless, anesthesia does require some 'hands on' care, especially on the day of your procedure- we do everything we can to ensure that your health and safety are kept paramount, while minimizing your risk. We are always working on ways to make the anesthetic experience both safe and convenient.
